Starting a small business requires hard work, perseverance and let’s be honest, many nights without sleep. The risks are great They put a lot on the line. But if you have a promising idea and the conviction to do it, it can be a very rewarding experience.
Here are some tips to make your small business a great success.
1.Keep the big vision in sight.
A great vision will take you far. I give this advice first, because when things go wrong on the way to your success, and they become, taking into account the great vision that will allow you to approach a successful course. It may not always be the course you have envisioned, but your grand vision will become your northern star, helping you to orient and orient yourself in the dark. I believe so much that I even wrote a book on the subject with my brother. Your vision is your base, your compass and your heavenly beacon lighting the way forward.
2.Feed your vision with stamina.
What should go hand in hand with a grand vision is the perseverance you need to move forward. If you’re a Game of Thrones watcher, there was a big line in a recent episode when Stannis Baratheon was warned of the lack of wisdom to start a battle in the snow. He replied: “We march to victory or we march to defeat, but we move forward, only forward”.
3.Make a plan, but be flexible.
You need some plans, even if they have only a few pages. A business plan with associated marketing concept is an important success model. They help you understand the key milestones of the road, define your success, and find the way to key metrics to track your progress.
4.Include your experience.
If you are already naturally good or have skills, you accept it. Do not try to take care of all aspects of your business. Hire or sign contracts with agencies for things you can not do and focus on your strengths as quickly and as often as possible. Do not be a cat of all professions and a master of nobody.
5.Do not re-invent the wheel.
What works in other business models, in your industry, in software applications and other business processes that you can emulate rather than rebuild? Do not waste time trying to configure systems if you can just buy and install one, saving valuable time and spending little money. I always think about my burning speed and move as thin as possible. But sometimes it is best to take the cost of some good systems so you do not have to waste time making mistakes to build your own.
6.Do not burn.
This is not just an outdated piece of advice: your health is literally the most important thing in your life. When your body gives up, you’re done. Your heart does not care how good your business is. Your circulatory system is not that impressed with your money or benefits. Personally I try to eat very well, sleep well and take the time to laugh with my children day after day and see my wife.
7.Take advantage of everything.
Life hackers might just look like viral food on the internet, but they can teach an important lesson in terms of leverage. If you use leverage in all aspects of your life in your favor, move on, faster. Use outsourced help to simplify tasks and save time for important phone calls.
8.Keep your sense of humor.
If you can not laugh at yourself, you miss it. I almost slept the other night thinking of a funny event that had happened that day, and suddenly I had to laugh so loud that I woke the dog.
Try to laugh more and stress less. Strengthen your emotional and mental well-being, prevent other people from getting under your skin and keep you cool and collected, and much more fun.
